Fitting a (minitwin legal) Kseries engine to a Curvy?

There's a dude on Ebay selling a Curvy Minitwin that has been converted for a K3 engine that's still minitwin legal. Anyone got any info on doing this? (Sarah? :-) ).

Is it just a matter of changing the carby inlets to the later motor? Are there more mods required? Can it be done so its still Minitwin legal?

I'm feeling a new Project coming on. A fully tricked out Curvy (far better handling than a pointy) taken as far as it's possible to take it for the Thundersport/Thunderbike series. MV Augusta fairing, 180 rear wheel, USD ohlins forks, 100+bhp, quickshifter, slipper clutch, etc, etc. :-)

You won the lottery:cool:...id love to see some genuine 100bhp plus dyno charts from SV's that also show a stock bike run as a comparison.

Yes lots of people fit the injected motors into carbed bikes for minitwins, works really well as the injected motor likes the carbs!. You keep the motor stock, ie no cam swops etc, as you would if it was in an injected bike. You just need to swop over the rear exhaust stub for a carbed one and then fit the carbed genny/flywheel and gear position sensor and put the carbed cam covers onto the engine as the pair valve system wont fit under the carbed tank on the rear cylinder.

and then sort the fueling, off you go.

*bear in mind im doing this off memory as steve is in the dyno so cant verify with him...

the oil cooler has to be delt with in some way unless a pointy headers are used I'd imagine :smt102

Some exhausts fit around it ok, otherwise just remove and block off.

Oh and you need the carbed inlet rubbers and mount them onto the injected engine, can be a pita to get off the carbed motor though!!, they are generally well wedged on there.

I dont see why it wouldnt be legal I thought you could use the bits from either model of SV's (except the 1000 that would be cheating :) )

Just had to click into this thread to see what the hell you were asking, to me a K series engine meant one of these Powertrain MG/Rover jobbies...

Now that would have been an interesting project

Could have been a BMW engine, although I doubt you'd persuade anyone that a 750cc inline triple is a twin ;)

Thanks Sarah, that doesn't sound too much work at all!

Can I ask why the genny/flywheel need to be changed?
