Cheeky eBay Gits
Once again Im listing items on ebay and once again there are people making me behind the scenes offers on items. I've found this is quite common place and due to the anal raping which sellers leave themselves open to due to ebay policy Im not too unhappy about completing these deals. I have as yet not had one go sour and due to ebay fees etc I do in the end work out in roughly the same financial position.
However tonight I've encountered what for some reasons appears to be a really cheeky bugger. His first message in reference to an item I have listed at £40 "interested in your item but £15? Seems a bit steep, I would give you £45 out of ebay posted" IMO thats pretty ignorant terms to use but, ok an offer is still an offer and although I could quibble that this leaves me after all things considered in the region of £5 short but wtf its not an in demand item so it could be months of relisting until someone else fancies making me an offer, so I reply: "If its £45 sent as a gift through paypal then I'll agree those terms and end the listing... payment delivery details request etc..." I think at this point its a pretty done deal but he's replied "£45 im happy with but if I pay as a gift paypal charges me" So now Im thinking: a, I didnt think it did (please enlighten me oh mighty org) b, as if I give a feck, I've just lost £10 compeared to what I intended c, you're not in the drivers seat on this one, its my item and Im happy to wait those extra months if it means I get a reasonable price for it. Ok so that wasnt my reply to him, my reply was the far more civilized: "Ok I may be mistaken with my terminoligy but use the method which means I recieve £45, or if a method is used where I recieve £45(minus paypals cut) then I'll post it out as cheap as possible as opposed to the recorded method originally offered. SOOoooooo yeah its been a long day, long week, long 6 weeks tbh and maybe this guys just pulling on that last nerve but jeeezzzzzzz SOME PEOPLE!:compcrash: |

Re: Cheeky eBay Gits
Yes but if he pays with Paypal gift its not protected, so don't bother to send it & sell it again later. ;)
I always say 'If I had a "buy it now" price I'd have listed as such, and I'll let the auction run to the end PAYPAL gift does charge the sender if I remember correctly |
IIRC as a gift it does charge, it also gives you the option to charge the other party...
The cost is minimal anyway. I wouldn't bother with the hassle, just let it run it's course. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=51.217269,0.245077 Member of the 1 litre club... |

Leave it be to run its course. Why bother dealing with someone that has already annoyed you?

P+p is listed as £15 He was contesting the £15 as been too high so in effect offered me my asking price for the item and £5 for p+p. this amount to be paid away from ebay so i save on the fees. Based on asking prices Fees between eBay and PayPal would roughly cost £5. So although he's offering me £10 less than the total sum, I'd have only received £5 more than what he's offering had I insisted on the original price. That's due to the shafting cut that eBay and PayPal take (roughly 10% all in all) hence why I said it leave me £5 shy of my target. I've not heard back from him since and I'm not too fussed, it's bloody cheap at that price anyway, it's even listed as been *the cheapest one on ebay* This has got my goat more than when folk have won an item from me but then insist on negotiating the price of postage. FFS people it's postage AND PACKAGING duct tape isn't free nor is the time I spend getting to the post office so STFU you clicked "commit to buy" so tough **** |
Re: Cheeky eBay Gits
Is it not cheecky to list on eBay and NOT actually let things run their course?
If you are willing to consider offers, well there's the "Make an Offer" functionality. Hmm? |
I'm trying to make money, not friends.
