Speedo thingy for GSXR swap?

Okay so I bought all the parts I need for a front end swap today fitting them
Thursday.. Then remembers the wise words from here something about needing a speedo drive or something with some front end swaps..

The front end is from a K4 GSXR 1000 onto a K4 SV650S.

Basically I am in urgent need of knowing if I need a part or not and where to source it.. I need it fitted before I go back to work Monday!

Thanks for any help!

George

You need a Hall sensor and some magnets - have a search.

It can't be done by simply bolting up standard parts from either bike.

Okay so if I've got this right it's as simple as.. Wire sensor into original wiring and mount to front wheel, put magnets in 4 cups nearby and mount.. Simple?

There are a number of ways to do, but that's the simplest. The last one I did, I made a bracket to fit the sensor inside the front mudguard, drilled a small hole near the top of the mudguard near the fork leg to bring the cable out, then ran the cable up with the brake line.
If I say it myeslf it's the neatest one I've seen. I have some pictures somewhere, I'll see if I can find them.

Appreciate it!

So the magnets in their cup, you need four of them.. where do you mount them? Or is it better to make a mount for them and fit them in there then mount that? Thanks

I have thought about this swap but i don't want to lose my nice looking dash, would be interesting to see how someone else has mounted the hall sensor and magnets. Is the hall sensor easy to wire up?

Dead easy, connect the three wires from the new Hall sensor to the three wires that connected the original speedo drive.

The magnets are fitted into the recesses in the disc buttons.

Look on the site for acumen electronics. They do a kit which is complete and you can use your speedo!
