How to find someone?

For years now I've wanted to get back in touch with a fella I met on holiday (and his family).

I was on hols with Nobbylass and the bin lids yonks ago and we met this couple with kids just a little older than ours. Anyway we had a great laugh on hols and kept in touch when we got back to blighty. So much so that we ended up going to stay with them in Newcastle one weekend.

We kept in touch but then once our fourth child came along and with my job getting more time consuming as well as doing up the house etc we didn't really stay in touch.

Then I lost my diary with everyone's numbers in and that was the end of that.

Anyway for years now we've wanted to get back in touch with them but never really known how to approach it. I've decided I'm going to make a concerted effort and am looking to the org for inspiration.

The guy (Davey) was an old skool biker and used to tour with Barry Sheene et al back in the day. From what I remember, his missus (Debbie) was a bit younger.

I'll always remember when we went to stay with them he had a blue and yellow imported blade and he took me out for a spin on the back roads to Scotland... I think I've only ever been near those speeds on a track since!

Any bright ideas guys and gals?

Never tried looking for someone before but a lot of people have Facebook nowadays so you could try searching for his name. Most people tend to upload pics of their bikes/cars if it's their pride and joy.

There's also some websites that search all the sites like Facebook, MySpace, Bebo etc.

Yeah... just don't remember their surname :(

Perhaps they don't like you, surely they would have got in touch with you? :-p

Only joking!

If you can remember what company they worked for? Type that in and if they have listed it then it could appear (it's how I met my gf... Long story, however I'm not a stalker!).

Perhaps if you know what area they got married and can work out roughly what year... (long shot) but you could search on ancestry website?

Good luck!

Lol! We moved house not long after we stopped getting in touch.

No idea where/ when they got married, can't remember their address.

Can only remember their first names, that they live in Newcastle he must be around 50 odd by now and he was bang into his bikes.

Actually come to think of it, I think he worked in a big chemical or manufacturing factory or summat but that really is the extent of what I know :(

Mark, did they have your moby numbers?

If so, they didn't wanna stay in touch mate, just accept it ;)

Ask at your previous address to see if anyone has been trying to contact you?

Last time we spoke was about 11yrs ago.... I didn't even have a mobile phone then lol!

We last spoke to them about 6 months to a year before we moved and the people that moved into our house took on a new phone number when they moved in. We did have mail redirection on for about six months but as we moved in Jan, even if they'd sent a chrimbo card, we still wouldn't have received it.

Have you got a rough idea of the area where they lived? if so try using a combination of google maps and street level mode to jog your memory and maybe remember the address from that. Its worked for me a few times.

Really got no idea fella. Just remember they lived on the outskirts of Newcastle :(

Was thinking of getting in touch with a Newcastle independent radio station and seeing if they'd do a few mentions.

Aye radio might be a good idea. Was he near any landmarks or the like that have stuck in your memory?
