Lazy throttle return
Evening all
I've had the carbs off this afternoon to trace a ominous smell of petrol coming from them (turns out to be a loose screw in the bowl, which was well passed its best). Got everything back together without much issue, but the throttle cables seem to have went lazy/ slow on the return side, with the open being almost perfect. Any guesses on the issue, or have I mucked up the adjustment and position of the cables? Thanks in advance |
Re: Lazy throttle return
Similar problem on my pointy years ago , turns out that the cable was fine but it was the assemblies that are on my throttle bodies that were a tad sticky , may be something similar on the carbs . Rotate the throttle whilst looking at the carbs and then slowly rotate back and see if any slack appears in the return cable .

Sounds very similar as the open is tight as hell. I've got a feeling that I've not tensioned the return cable and the mount properly, but a quick once over everything will be needed as I think one of the fuel hoses is perished |
Re: Lazy throttle return
But if you haven`t really fiddled with anything and taken anything off then it`s a simple answer , if cables have been undone then it may be a tension issue .

Re: Lazy throttle return
Had the carbs off and the the right switchgear to fix the temperamental (comes on at its own accord) cut off switch.
So the cables have been backed right off |
Re: Lazy throttle return
There ya go , remember not to overtighten the cables though , you will have a very jerky throttle action then
