Building a subframe advice

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to build a custom subframe and just wondered if anyone knew what the recommended tubing would to use.

I was thinking 25mm x 25mm x 2mm mild steel square tubing. Would this be strong enough or would you go for a touch thicker?

Let me know your thoughts,

Ta..

More than strong enough, the original subframes are built from much lighter material than this. The design of the subframe is just as important as the material; ensure it's triangulated properly so you are only putting the members in compression or tension.

Cheers for the input, the subframe is for a 2003 R1 tail unit to go on a bandit 1200. I was thinking of buying an original and hacking that but then thats a touch expensive unless i can find a cheap one.
