Why your best Mate getting a Sponsor is good
 
First off, pardon me, as I'm an American and don't speak the language properly. All lot of people feel jealous when their best mate gets sponsored to race. This is actually the worst thing that you can feel. Straight away, while everyone else is sitting around wondering why it wasn't them that got the sponsor, you should run to them and tell them how wonderful and deserving they were. Then, when they get a brand new set of tires for every race, you will be able to get their scuffs for free (if you are really good) or for less than half price at least. Never pay half, (I speak from experience) as they've already got the best half of the tires. There are also lots of extra perks, as a really good sponsor will not allow them to race on bent parts (they will buy new ones) you might get things for free that require very little bending.

If he's really a good mate (like a school friend that you've known for years) then while he's standing in front of the camera talking about how the "W.H.O. Sonic Screwdriver Company" Suzuki was running great and how he really wants to thank the "Bob's your Uncle Mobile Fish and Chips and Vindaloo shop" for their support, you can be in the paddock removing the bent and unsightly "top of the line race parts" from his motorcycle in case the press follow him back and want pictures of his motorcycle. How you later dispose of the unsightly and bent race parts can then be discussed after the press has left.

Another really good tip (also from past experience) is to get to be friends with a machinist or top-notch engine assembler at the nearest race engine shop. They use all sorts of really expensive internal engine parts that I could never afford (aftermarket crankshafts, aftermarket rods, etc.) all of these parts have a recommended fatigue span. After a certain amount of laps, hours, etc. they remove them and discard them. In the past, I was able to get my hands on some of these parts. Usually you have to assure them that no one will ever find out that they came from their shop and that you understand that the reason they are getting rid of them is that if they are run flat out, they will fail soon and the shop is not responsible. As long as you watch for the warning signs of the parts failing, you can run the parts a little longer and possibly even get the egnine shut down before you destroy your cases.
