Canon MG6150 printer help!

I have a MG6150 that is showing as waste ink tank full. The tank is nowhere near full but I need to be able to enter the service mode to be able to reset the counter. Can anyone help me with this please?

Regards

This link any good?

Should imagine its a similar procedure for all Cannon printers?

No good. :( Cheers though.

I have googled the f**k out of this problem and can find none speciefic to my model. I do not have a resume button on mine and can't find any way to access the service menu.

F you Canon, I refuse to pay stupid amounts of money to send you a printer for you to reset a code and send it back to me, when the ink tank is nowhere near full. It would almost be cheaper to buy another new printer!

It often is cheaper, this is how they make their money. Sell them cheap, get you on ink & servicing costs

Forgive me asking but are you getting a message to say the printer waste ink tank is full or is this the carts? If I remember rightly the carts for these have a chip in them that only allows x number of prints, and they have to be diabled or mounted on the printer if you're refilling the carts.

Epson is just as bad by the way and will stop printing once the counter gets to a certain number. We found the reset routine for ours and added an external collection tank as the cotton blocks in the back were indeed getting pretty full.

Agree with Mav too on the dump it and buy a new one, especially if it's a couple of years old. I do like to find the reset routines if I can but if it's a lost casue or a service charge to get the code then...

It's all to do with the waste ink tank, which in fact is not a tank, more a sponge on a tray. It is not full and is unlikely to be for a considerable amount of time and there fore I wish to reset the waste ink tank counter. A simple matter you may have thought, but it appears even the tinternet can not help me with this particular model! :(

That was the issue we had with our Epson. There is a little Tupperware-type pot beside it now with the standard waste pipe re-routed into it. Good luck with hunting for that code/routine to reset the counter. I'm assuming you've tried the routines suggested for the other types of Canon printers? Have you tried e-mailing Canon support??

Can't try them as I don't have the required buttons. Tried many button combos to no avail and canon support refuse to give out the code even though I have told them it has been stripped and cleaned!

Re: Canon MG6150 printer help!

With my Epson if I remove the cartridges from the ink carrier thingy & then unplug it from the mains for 30 seconds and then plug it back in, it resets the cartridges to full

But I am using a continuous ink system which has different chips to OEM

http://www.continuous-ink-systems.co.uk/

Maybe they know how to get rid of this annoying code, or by buying one of their kits, it can fool the printer into resetting itself.

If you look at how much these kits cost against the cost of OEM cartridges, they pay for themselves very quickly.

I know with 2 children mine has saved me loads of money and I've still got loads of ink in the bottles that come with the kit.
