iPod Nano (6th Gen) Dark Screen Help

Has anyone else had this problem? It may have got wet this mnorning...didn't notice at the time, but just went to turn it on and at first it appears not to be on but on closer inspection it would appear that it is on just so dark it is virtually impossible to see what's on screen...sound is working fine!
