Wooh, I have a minion!
 

Starts a week on Monday.
I've been wanting one for a while as I'd like to ditch the less interesting parts of my job (who wouldn't eh?) but work have decided to try the idea so I get more time to do the more interesting side of my job. Writing qlikview apps, possibly a little iphone development, devote some time to the migration to our VM kit etc.
:smt041 small thing I guess but I'm a V happy bunny and had to share it with someone :)

He's just had the "last chance to back out" tour of the place and accepted the job so I'm getting him a nice welcome package of kit (XPS laptop, iPhone 4... 8))

and, ITS FRIDAY! cake club to top it all off!

hmm, hadn't seen the other side of it yet so it still seems like a good idea here but I suspect you may be right.

It definately changes what you do.... it depends on the minion, but be prepared for lots of interruptions whilst minion gets up to speed.

If you get a good one, they can end up being fairly "fire and forget" - wind them up, point them in the appropriate direction and off they go.... only coming back once they've completed the task. You also get to claim some of the glory for their successes.

If you get a crap one, it's bloody torture..... You waste days micro-managing them to stop them screwing up.... Unfortunately employment law doesn't leave much room for violence.

Moral - choose your minion carefully....
