are we going to get stuck in the snow?
So we started work at 6am yesterday morning at Aston business school in birmningham, conference finished at 6pm, rip out all the gear & re-install it at Aston villa, finish at 10:30, go back to hotel & sleep. Up at 6, to Aston villa by 7:30 to run the job here today. It finishes at 4 and will probably take us 90 minutes to rip out, then it's a4097 to a42/m42 m1 north back to gods county..
Except the snow looks to be hitting the west midlands/bordering with brum @ 1-3pm (excellent time for it to get started & lay the foundations for chaos) then by 6pm the snow has spread across to tamworth/Leicestershire & Nottinghamshire - just as we're heading that way.. I really really really don't fancy spending a night stranded in a Renault master on the m1 freezing my knackers off but got a really bad feeling that we're gonna end up as archive footage on the news for years to come "look at all these idiots in their vehicles stranded ha." Meant to add a poll... Fail. Will we get stuck? Edit: if we do get stuck, check my YouTube channel for amateur news updates - www.youtube.com/paulthe6th |
Re: are we going to get stuck in the snow?
Here in about as far west in England as you can get without going Welsh... we have hard frozen ground but it's clouding over and warming up. Everything's relative, it's now -2C instead of the -10C last night so looks like the snow is on the way.

Re: are we going to get stuck in the snow?
Lovely up here in gods country on the proper side of the hill. Cold but clear.
Good day for being outside for a bit of brisk exercise. Even better to be sat on a comfy sofa with a hot brew. |
Re: are we going to get stuck in the snow?
Done exercise - run from one end of Aston villa to the other & back 8 times now. Not fun. You never see joggers smiling.. Weirdos
Nah we're going to gods county, not Plankashire. Hey Tim what's the best thing to come out of Manchester? ....... The m62. What's the best thing about Manchester? Going home. What D'ya call a ferret from Manchester? Madferret. Lovely. Anywho contingency plans as follows - if we get wind that any main routes are blocked we're gonna stay an extra night somewhere. If not we're gonna fill up with diesel & buy about £30 of food each & go for it. |

Re: are we going to get stuck in the snow?
We've had snow since lunchtime. It's about an inch.
However, it's rained since,ow its well below zero again, so it's really bad. I've just been to the chippy for tea and it's raining frozen raindrops. It's not hailstones, it clear shiny ice and it's miserable. To make even worse, I'm off to work in a bit for a Saturday night in Manchester in a 245bhp rear wheel drive BMW! Spinny around fun to be had! Pete ;) |
