Ideas for fixing broken steering stop on 03 pointy?

Hey all,

I have an 03 pointy that when I bought it had a damaged steering stop on the right hand side (as you sit on the bike). The little lug had snapped off during a spill with the previous owner and so the bar gets to close to the tank.

It has passed an MOT without it being mentioned and it isn't really a problem when riding. Its just I want to get it fixed if possible and wondered if any of you more experiecnced guys had any ideas on the best way of doing it?

I used some chemical metal but after a while it just fell off so I don't think thats a fix (unless of course I messed up the application which is a possibility).

Any ideas greatly received. I will try and get a pic or two over the weekend to show the damage.

We use a bolt through an aluminium or delrin spacer on race bikes after tapping the yoke (or subframe in some cases)

I assume you mean the stop on the lower yoke is snapped, not the frame?

If yes, then it can easily be welded - I've done a number myself.

Im pretty sure its the lug thats on the frame not the yoke. I will check in the morning and upload a pic to make sure.

Can it be welded with the fairings etc still on the bike (know nothing about welding) or would it need to be removed for access?

Im just thinking that I will need to ride the bike to somewhere that can do it as I don't have access to a welder.
