Higher bars for Pointy 'S'?
I have a SV650S 2003 and wish to raise the handlebars to a higher position, more upright. Can't find anything suitable on internet. Any suggestions please.

like these but they are the wrong diameter or get the naked converson kit |
Re: Higher bars for Pointy 'S'?
I went the whole hog and swapped the top yoke and fitted a riser bar. Have a look at my thread, I warn you though, this is expensive and fully encourages hooliganism when completed! My bike has recently had a new Renthal handle bar and this is even better in terms of comfort and control.
Other options are a comfort kit made just for the SV, which you can purchase from several places. This will give you a custom top yoke, risers, bar, throttle cables and maybe a clutch cable if you need it. My home made set has a very high rise on the risers, so I use a clutch cable from a V-Strom and custom made throttle cables. Hope that this helps. |
Re: Higher bars for Pointy 'S'?
i have a set of raised clip-ons for the pointy that i don't use.
any potential buyer would have to be willing to have them shipped form lithuania, though. |
Re: Higher bars for Pointy 'S'?
What about a GSX650F? That should sort out all the discomfort issues of the SV (and the lumpy engine) :)

Gilles Variobars
Not cheap, slightly more than a top yoke conversion, but more adjustable. http://www.motorcycle-road-and-race....with_riser.jpg Look on EBAY, you might have to buy the clamps to suit your fork leg size |

Re: Higher bars for Pointy 'S'?
I recently went with the option of buying a top yoke conversion kit from cool n comfy (www.topyokes.com) for £312!!
At the time I knew it was expensive but it seemed the simplest option, if not the cheapest. It came with the top yoke, Renthal bars and Hel braided brake lines, and longer throttle cables. So far I have had to wait an additional day for the brake line (Not a real problem), but since then I have tried making several attempts to make contact with them but no real success. My biggest problem is trying to refit the front brake master cylinder. where it is normally bolted to the right handlebar, there is nowhere to fix it to the Renthal bars. As the master cylinder has to be mounted higher than the lever it seems it is a bit unusual that there have been no instructions or pictures to show how to overcome this problem. Can anyone help? Once I have overcome this small problem the bike will be finished. Then I just need to find new bar end weights as the originals do not fit into the new bars. |

I'm struggling to find what you need, something like this to bolt to the handle bars to bolt the M/C too http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CNC-Billet...ht_1290wt_1110 Or get a M/C from a naked sv |
Re: Higher bars for Pointy 'S'?
use the concecting bracket that goes from your master clynder and attach it to the top bolt of the perch that holds it on the bar
