Just took the snorkel off.

After reading a few threads on here about taking the snorkel off I decided to give it a shot today as I was adjusting the TPS and clutch I thought why not!

Such a good noise! It shall be staying out for a little while and probably get an SV1000 snorkel soon. £33.50 new, shall keep my eye on eBay for one but doubt it is going to be much cheaper.

Hi federer, would you be buying the sv1000 snorkel local? I'm in north somerset (long ashton) and i'd be interested for £30. If its online, where did you see it? I'd like a bit of that induction roar myself :D

Will you be fitting tank raisers to go with this mod? Many seem to, so I think if I got the snorkel I'd get the raisers too and go for the full effect. http://www.chewys-stuff.co.uk/

Re: Just took the snorkel off.

Good to see you found it, I was actually going to pick it up from Fowlers in Bristol, takes a few days for them to get it.

However, glad you pointed out that site as I hadn't realised that there were two different part numbers. K3-K4 and K5 onwards. I'm wondering what the difference between them is, can't really tell from the fiche.

I'm guessing if I purchase the one from the same year as my bike it should fit. Can't image they used two different air boxes in the same year.

And yeah I will be purchasing the raisers from Chewys Site, I have the mirror extenders from him and they are brilliant.

As a side note, if you in Bristol and want to go for a ride somewhere let me know. I live in WSM and am in Bristol fairly often.

I've read in here somewhere that it's the later sv1000 snorkel you want to get. Can't remember why exactly but that's what the thread said.

Yeah Defo up for a ride. Was thinking of checking out a couple of the Weston bike nights when they kick off. I've not been to any before so would be good to get the low down from someone who's been and knows the score. Cheers

Ok found that post now too. see zokambaas comment, something to do with length ;)

Don't know how much difference it makes tbh. very little i imagine. More info the better though I suppose?

Ah. I want to do this too. I took my airbox off to install my PCv and I was quite surprised that the standard snorkel is so small and that the standard wiring loom rests right up against it. Am I incorrect in thinking that if you change the amount of air going in you'll need to remap?
Ps: thanks for the links for the 1000 snorkel. :)

I think it depends on combination of mods tbh.
From what I've read on here (im no expert) it seems like if you have a full exhaust system, aftermarket air filter, etc, etc then maybe a remap would be benificial.

however, if you only have light mods ie a slip on, you should be fine to do this without remap. I think the thou snorkel is a comprimise between having the little sv650 snorkel and completely doing away with it all together as some have done. I didn't fancy having nothing there at all so thou option seemed like the best bet.

Others may say different as there seems to be debate about benefits in several threads on here.

Ah ok cool. Have exactly same reason for looking at the thou's snorkel, want better breathing without taking the whole thing off.
