20'000 mile service - what's involved?
Hi guys n girls. my bike is soon coming upto 20'000 mile and is in great condition but the engine is starting to sound a little rattly (tappets i think)from the front part of engine. What stuff would you recomend for servicing ie cam tensioners valve gaps etc..just done plugs filtets as per 4000 mile cheers in advance

Re: 20'000 mile service
Lol they dont have tappets, they have buckets and shims with the camshaft pushing directly onto the valve stem via the bucket (or cam follower if ya like)
would say valve shimming needs cheking and the cam chain tensioner checking Jim |
Re: 20'000 mile service
i have my doubts the rattle would be from the shim clearance at 20k,and every one on here reckons the clearances tighten up,sound more like cam chain tensioner

YC recomended to me that valve clearance should be done at 15k miles (and i had it done), so maybe a heads up you might need yours doing

Thanks..think a valve clearance cam tensioners and a carb balance will have to be done...how much ?;-)

20k is a mid service (Spark plugs, oil change, adjustment)
I got a major service done (with a could of extras) for £210 |
