A better buyer for Ducati?

Looks a more sensible option than Hero. In my eyes, anyway - what does everyone else think?

I think it'll be Mercedes/ AMG that'll get Ducati
And VAG will do something with Horex, or buy someone like Moto Morini or rescue Benelli from the Chinese

Piech said (I'm paraphrasing a bit) taht they'd looked at Horex and decided nobody would remember who they were. I could see the AMG/Merc thing working too though

Re: A better buyer for Ducati?

One of the reasons I bought the Evo last September was the excellent build quality, due in part to the ex-Audi quality control director chappie, recruited in '07ish to improve the brand. He certainly seems to have made a difference so, IMO, a German buy-out would be a good thing. Look at the difference the Germans have made to Lamborghini (notwithstanding the fact that they're unable to outrun a determined SV rider)
In the mid 1970's my father was given a heavy fine for being caught doing 128mph over the M62 in an Espada, remarkable not because of the speed but because it kept going long enough to get to the M62.

As long as they don't start painting everything silver

At least we will see more bikes in Top Gear they will block out the presenter like the Audi's do now

as long as audi leave ducati to get on with it then fine. but i doubt that will happen.

oohhh well by by Italian passion of the heart and hello German squareness.

mind you if MCN has anything to say its more than likely hot gaseous bum air :-)

Looks like the purchase is getting closer. My gut feel is that it could well be a good thing, if it makes Ducati more stable financially. That said, they need to leave the Ducati team to keep control of the "brand" and the "spirit" .

Could it be the same as with the new Lamborghini's?

The Germans do all the reliable bits whilst the Italians add lasers and rocket launchers? [/Clarkson]
