org plumbers can you help?

Ive got a bit of an issue with a shower. For some reason it doesnt seem to work. At the weekend i turned the water off and ran all the water out of the tank. After switching it back on and getting the air out it runs fine for a few mins but then it starts pulsing water from the showerhead while gradually reducing the water output. If i turn on the taps they are all fine and no air locks but it still happens.

Any ideas whats up? ive unplugged the pipes going to the shower and they seem to flow ok. im stuck.

what tank did u empty ?The cold header tank ,or did u manage to drain down the hot tank.Is the shower a mixer shower that is fed from tank pressure on both hot and cold feeds ,or mains pressure on the cold.
Were there any flow restrictors on the inlets that you may have left out leading to unequal flow to one side of the shower.
just a few things to let us know

Mains cold and tank for hot that I drained. Got a power pump on the system as well but its never worked. No flow restriction as far as I know.

Well whoever fitted that needs to have the shower head shoved when there's no sunshine.

The mixer requires equal pressures, if you're using gravity fed hot water, you can't shove mains cold in the other side, it won't work correctly.

The cold needs it's own gravity fed supply from the header tank, this will offer similar pressures.

What pump are you running?

Is it a dual pump? Pumps hot and cold feeds?

I really hope you haven't been running mains cold to a pump.

Yup mains cold into the pump! I didn't fit it BTW.

I can't stress enough how wrong that is :(

Tbh mate, it needs sorting properly, it will never work right.

I'd be happy to advise you how to start over and do it correctly, it's the only way.

Ok sounds good. I'll have to see where the cold water tank is. Infact I'm not sure its connected any more. Oh not good this is it. Bugger. I'll pop on tomorrow to discuss if that's ok?

Cool, gather as much info as poss, take a few pics as well if required.

As long as you can get to stuff, it can be done.

At least if you start again and the mixer still don't work, it will be set up properly for a replacement, but hopefully the mixer will be fine once set up correctly.
