Oil level/air gap Pointy forks?

I know its in here somewhere but I can't find it! Just fitted k tec springs, using 15 grade oil, can anyone please tell me the correct air gap! All answers will be welcome! Cheers maz

Re: air gap pointy front forks

OEM gap is 102mm

Measured without the springs in and the stantion compressed

doh, sorry 102mm is for curvy forks.

I seem to recall that when I fitted my Hagon springs the level was 145mm

Check with K tech, see what they recommend

Out of curiosity, what are the effects of getting the level wrong by a few mm either way?

Not a lot

Am I incorrect in thinking that a smaller air gap would make for a harsher ride? I'm sure I read that somewhere on the internet (which never lies  )

Re: Oil level/air gap Pointy forks?

Yes you are incorrect, less air gap = harsher ride as forks can't compress as far.

Simple physics you can compress a gas, but not a liquid, so bigger the air gap = more gas space in fork, so can compress this more than fork with less air gap.

If forks are too full, you could even pop the seals in extreme circumstances
