Two magic words to start the panic

FUEL STRIKE!!

They haven't even announced it yet & there were massive queues at the petrol stations on my way home last night. On my way in this morning both places I pass have run out of fuel. Prices are rocketting too.

Is it the same by everyone else or do I live in a particularly stupid area?? :smt021

Didn't see any queues on the way in. Cage is full and parked up until inclement weather anyway, so I'm already hoarding :-).

I said this yesterday......didn't take long did it!

Quote:

Tin hats at the ready.....

What about the scam of tanker drivers going on strike?
Does it not look like some weird convenient time for a strike over pay conditions?
Does anyone else feel this is a push to get the ordinary person into panic buying at the pumps before the strike?
Just because none of us can afford to fill up to go to work and other things means we aren't spending enough on fuel, so the government tax pot is low......panic buyers will be fighting to fill upto the brim and fill the governents coffers. Then when they're just getting near the strike day, and we've spent enough.....strike aborted.......oh come on, I wasn't born yesterday! Summat smells wiffy to me, and it ain't petrol fumes I can smell

And all whilst Tim Nice But Dim Cameron says on the news....

''if the public feel they have to fill up in light of the forecoming strike...''

hmmmmm I bet hes rubbing his hands already :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

But they wouldn't really be any better off they just won't have as many customers over the next week until everyone's tanks start to empty :S ?

Does this mean everyone will drive more slowly, like last time?

Pete ;)

Re: Two magic words to start the panic

Petrol sales have slumped, due to folk being skint and having to be a little more cautious when they get their fuel and how much to put in.

So what better way to get people to fill up and fast!

Strike over, it goes back to normal and it slumps back down again.....til the next time. Then when all these financial people do their sums, the goverment can then say....seeeeee there was growth in the economy and we are heading out of a recession....blah blah blah....I'm growing tired in my cynical old age.
When they negotiate themselves out of the situation they can then pretend to be the publics champion, and pull the wool over the eyes of everyday man............and fuel will go up to 150p, and we'll all roll over and carry on regardless without grumping about it!

Someone pass me a stick so I can wave it around like Father Jack #rolls eyes#

I hope they stay on strike. The work van is empty. My car is nearly empty. I'm not going to go fill them up. If I run out sod it. I'll either not go into work or walk the 8 miles and be super late.

Thinking about giving up the car altogether as it's getting insanely expensive to run one.

I just wish the entire country didn't drive for a week, everyone, businesses too just to show the government how crippling it is to tax fuel so heavily. They'd then understand why the economy is f**ked...or maybe they wouldn't.
