Maxis Diamond Tyres on a Pointy?
 

Have tried the search but nothing popped up. Has anyone tried the Maxis Diamond tyres? I need a set on my pointy in the very near future and am starting to look into it. Seen threads about Pilots and Angels, but not these.

Try Maxxis Supermaxx Diamond but they do not make a front to fit the sv650 yet but they do make a rear that will fit. Thats all I know.

The 120/70 will fit the front and is perfectly suitable for the SV. Some would say a better fit, including me.

How do they wear? I ride infrequently at the moment but I would like something with resonable life. Got the original Dunlops on at the mo.

Anything is better than the original Dunlops D220's. And unless you're Valentino, you'll get on great with them. Bigger bikes do.

And D220's were never the cutting edge tyres???

I have said before that there are very few on this forum that will actully ride beyond the level of performance that is offered even by the cheapest brand of tyres that offer a fitment for the SV. If you can afford Pirelli's/ Avon's /Bridgestone's etc, then buy them. If you can't, then there is NOTHING wrong with the cheaper brands.

Got the Supermaxx on my Street. They warm up quickly enough and stick well... maybe a little vague when really pushed but maybe that's just me being hyper-sensitive. Can't say anything about the life because I don't know how many miles they'd done when I bought the bike.

From experiance I can tell the difference in tyres without getting near the limits of performance. The oe tyres once part worn are dreadful- they feel as if they are slipping on anything beyond vertical. The avons I had on my last sv gave confidence even when well squared off from motorway trips.

So can I.. what I am saying is that tyres are tyres. What suits one person may not suit another, but to slate tyres in the way that happens on here is not on. An inexperienced rider can look at these statements and feel that they have to replace they're c**p tyres to ride safely... uneccesary costs for people that may not be able to afford "The Best" and hence reducing they're enjoyment of what is really a very capable bike.
