SV650 SK6 - 8000miles - CAT C Salvage
Just had bike declared a Cat C salvage and been offered £1050 for the salvage of it. Was it mint condition until taxi knocked it over. Thought it would only be new fairings etc but BLD engineers reckon it'll need £2800 spent on it and they classed it as being worth £3000. They reckon it needs a new subframe but i rode it after the accident and it seemed fine :smt011
Is £1050 a good price ? Any advances out there? Jeff |

Re: SV650 SK6 - 8000miles - CAT C Salvage
My K6 had a repair estimate of £2400, half of that was labour.
It was only a Cat D and I only paid £600 to buy it back. I paid about £300 to get it back on the road. A Cat C will also have a lower re-sale value. You say a Taxi knocked it over - does this mean that it is a 100% no-fault claim in your favour? If so, then you can refuse to let the mwrite it off and insist on repair - why should you take any kind of financial hit from this as its not your fault? |

Well i was on the bike and got knocked over with it lol. I wouldn't want the bike back as its a cat c. His insurers have already given me a cheque worth the best part of £2k which is the pre accident value minus the estimated salvage value of £1050. BLD have told me that they can scrap the bike for £1050 or I can have the bike back. Just wondered what you guys on here would do? I.E take the £1050 or get bike back and sell parts etc. Initially I thought only the exhaust, levers and fairing was busted but evidently not. |
