New to the forum

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself... My name is Ravi, I'm 24 and based in Walsall (near Birmingham). I have been fascinated with bikes since as long as I can remember despite having never ridden on one but I have finally taken the first steps to getting qualified. I have my theory test and DAS training course booked for early next month.

I have done a fair bit of research online and have come to the conclusion that the SV650S is the bike that I want to go for (hence why I've joined this forum) as it always seems to come up as a strong contender in first bike threads / reviews. I am going to be looking to get a second hand pointy 650S in the next month so lets see how it goes :)

I have managed to pick up a pair of boots, gloves and a jacket and just need to get myself a some trousers and a helmet. Plan is to go down to my local bike shops this weekend and just try on every helmet I can until i find one that fits nicely in my budget.

Anyway thats me. Hope to be out riding with you all soon.

Hi Ravi and welcome along.

The SV is not just a good first bike, it's an excellent all rounder too. Depending on which aspect of motorcycling you're into, you may find yourself sticking with an SV for longer than you think.

If you can pass MOD1 you'll pass MOD2 no trouble.
Keep an eye out on here for some good deals.

Hi Ravi, welcome to the forum :)

Say a quick hello in the madlanders section towards the bottom, as thats the group you'll be riding with mostly when you feel up to group riding :p

Good luck with the training, my mates got his mod1 on the 10th of may i think.

Hello, welcome to the forum.

Good luck with the test and like SP1 said, have a look on the Madlanders section, although I wouldn't call it group riding, most of the time there are only 3 or 4 of us on a rideout.

If 3 or 4 people are having sex together you call that group sex so what's the difference lol

Hi Gary, I had heard that. For the moment I am not thinking about what I might want to upgrade to in the future but I'm definitely feeling confident that the SV is the right choice for me to start on :)

Will do specialone / L3nny. Best way to improve is to get out there! Just gotta past my test first. I have a 1 hour taster season booked for Saturday so very excited about my first experience on a bike.
