Sportmax on Pointy - best pressures?
I have Sportmax D220ST (stock) tyres on my 2011 SV. I am running recommended pressures 32/36. I want to improve my lean angle and wonder if higher pressure would help here - I know some go to 40 rear.

Re: Sportmax - best pressures?
You may have to adapt your riding style from the Vstrom to the SV. The Vstrom is an upright bike with 'flat' handlebars, the sv is a sports bike with clip ons. What state are the tyres in, still round or slightly squared off?

a little more lean angle and trust in the bike that it will hold is probably needed. Although not many people say great things about the stock tyre choice, however i know that tyres are of a individual review.

Re: Sportmax - best pressures?
Get new tyres D220's don't really like to turn.

Re: Sportmax on Pointy - best pressures?
Your just not leaning enough, 3/4inch is alot of lean left to go, the D220's are quite flat profile (60) too so it doesn't take much doing to run the front within a few mm's of its edge. Tyre pressures as standard are fine, tyres themselves are pretty poor in the damp or wet so be careful, dry they're ok.

don't get hung up on chicken strips. ride in your comfort zone each bike is different. pushing past your comfort zone usually ends in tears. for the record i found the 220's felt 'wooden' and couldn't push them to the edge.
