Screen protectors for phones and tablets
 

Has anybody got any useful tips for applying these, I have cleaned the screen and removed all visible signs of dust but I still get tiny bubbles caused by the tiniest specs of dust.
So far I have used the cloth that came with the screen and tried several others and I have also used screen cleaner to try and get rid of the static that is causing the dust to stick :confused:

It's not a scam!

I clearly have not mentioned my dying grandmother and her last wishes to have your tablet/smartphone sent to Nigeria so that she can apply your screen cover.


And I'm in northampton.. ;)

Do it in the bathroom after a shower. The steam keeps the dust down. Dont spend ages trying to get it perfect. As soon as you open the protector keep it sticky side down, and just do it quickly. Spend too long messing with it will just make it worse.

Scrub the screen well with the little cloth (included with good protector kits) or the cleaning wipe for your glasses (if you wear them) or whatever you have that won't leave lint or fibres.

I then tend to just peel part of the backing off the protector and start to stick it, and then as I slowly apply the rest of it, smooth it with the applicator card (again, included sometimes) or a credit card or something as it's easier than way than once the thing is down trying to chase the bubbles to the edge.

Faff? Once you've done it, it'll last for a a long time (my old protector lasted over a year)

Firstly, ignore the risk of bubbles and get it positioned perfectly. Once it is positioned use a couple of bits of sticky tape, insulating tape works well. Use a little tape to lift one corner of the protector and another bit of the tape to get rid of any dust etc. Now, as you refit the half you have lifted roll it back on keeping any air out by constantly rubbing the protector as it meets the screen. Once it is fully down, do the same on the other end.
I do this with mine and some people don't even notice it has a protector on.

Good advice above. I was going to say the same. Get it lined up, get one corner or edge in place, then slowly apply it, teasing out the air bubbles from the area applied already as you go. Wipe the screen as you go too, to get rid of the dust. Once applied, you can often tease out the air bubbles by rubbing towards the corners.

Everyone has a different way. It's a proper faff. Hate them!
