DIY engine respray guide?

Hi guys.
Gonna do engine respray in situ on my curvy sv650s.
Does anyone know of a DIY guide or walk through type thing?
Looks a tad shoddy at min.

Good luck with that. What colour codes have you got ready? Can't wait for the finished results.

Many painstaking hours of de-greasing and removal of corrosion, followed by some heat resistant paint.

Don't do it in situ, you won't get the coverage right and the chances of you painting everything else is very high. Take the engine out of the frame, its not to difficult to do, its something I've done more than once...

As for a walk through, TamSV did a fantastic job with his SV where he also painted the engine. Hopefully his thread will be of some use to you.

Definitely drop it out. If you can't get it back together in time for silverstone, postpone until you're back!

Rob and I have done this before.
You need to drop the lump out, get a stiff brush (careful of any magnesium casings) give it a good good scrub blow any loose crud off with an air line, blater in degreasent and any cleaning agents you can get your mits on and repeat the above a couple of times over.
Once completed get your self some PJ1 High Temp paint. The stuff is amazing, just start spraying. no need to prime or laquer just get on with it and layer it as many times as you like. Only takes 2hrs between coats so you can leave it poised ready to be painted and just keep popping out to it ever couple hours to add a layer.
I did about 4 coats on robs motor and it looked fine, then just used what I had to finish the can for the sake of it. That all help up brilliantly!

Then once done pop it back in the bike, if you drop and clean the motor Friday night you could have it back in again Sunday night.
