Going down with the ship... (Censorship in the UK)
So, The Pirate Bay has now been blocked by most UK ISPs.
Its nice to see the Government/Judges are working to protect us from ourselves. Its not like its a bad thing, after all its just those people illegally downloading films, music and porn, right? What if I put it this way, paraphrasing a German Pastor from the 1940's http://www.chaoscrypt.com/pics/Pirate.jpg So which websites will it be next? |

I dislike the blocking of pirate bay BUT if the police closed down a shop in your town that was selling heroin would you complain?
We either believe in the law or morality, morality is dependent on the individual, the law on the group. |

SK, I don't quite understand how it works - if pirate bay has been blocked could they not give themselves a new domain name or something?

Its more like a directory telling you where you could get the heroin. And its not like downloading kills anyone, although the loss of sales probably means that bands/actors have less money to buy heroin with. Its not illegal to download, its the uploading part that is illegal. Let the Copyright Mafia get their acts in gear, get a new business model that works and move on. |

Re: Going down with the ship... (Censorship in the UK)
Strange thing is I work in a secondary school as a computer technician and I was reading up that Virgin and Sky have blocked Pirate Bay so I was curious and tried to get on Pirate Bay on our Admin Server..
I got right in. God knows what the students have been downloading with torrents without us knowing for all these years. Oops! |
Re: Going down with the ship... (Censorship in the UK)
Maybe the activists can help find a solution that prevents people copying and distributing content illegally. I dont agree with general censorship, but then I dont agree with facilitating illegal file sharing either.
