K4 pointy engine cuts on hard braking.
Hi all,
I have experienced a couple of strange things with my Sv in this last week. The same fault has occurred under the same conditions. Basically as I am braking hard from sort of 80-90 mph to 0 in about 100 yards as I pull up the bike just cuts out on me. The FI light comes on and when I thumb the starter the engine only turns over but doesn't start. I have to turn the ignition off and on and wait 10 seconds or so before the engine fires up, the bike then runs fine and good provided I don't do any hard braking again. Has anybody experienced this problem or have any solutions to fix it? My thoughts behind it is the petrol in the tank moving to the front of the tank from the braking forces and running the pump dry? Is this a know problem for the SV? Any advice will be appreciated. Cheers Guys |

Tip over switch maybe? Is it still mounted on its lugs? Can be found under the seat near the battery.

Clutch control?, gearing? needing a service / balance?

What is it that the tip over switch actually does? Cut the engine in the event of a crash? Cheers |
Is it normally located in front of the battery?

I have made this mistake before, but didn't get the bike out of the garage before I realised it was mounted the wrong way. Make sure it is pointing in the correct direction (there is an arrow on it I think) and it is secure, I cable tied it to the remains of the undertray... |
Re: K4 pointy engine cuts on hard braking.
Perhaps on hard braking it causes the switch to tilt forward and cut things out

It sounds like this could be the problem. I will have to investigate today. I will post my findings later on.
Cheers for the suggestions guys :) |
I finally got round to checking the tip over sensor today, and it was the problem after repositioning the sensor all was good. So thanks to everyone who suggested to look for this problem :)
