Kill switch backfires - what damage will it cause?

....... if when riding along and you flick the kill switch so the bike gives out an almighty backfire?

the reason i ask is one of my work colleagues admits to doing this and thinks its great fun!!!

didn't want to say anything but did ask him if it could cause damage and he wasn't sure?

any ideas oh mighty org?

Can't see it causing any issues, all it's doing is turning the engine off surely?

Good, innit. Some people need to grow up ( gracefully )
ps: better with carbed bikes.
