Shocked with dealer service (d675)

I've been using the (2006!) Daytona almost every day since March, went on a nice 300 mile run the other weekend, brilliant.

The following morning bike sounded very weak at startup, like the battery didn't have much juice to offer. I needed to stop home and when trying to restart the bike it cought 3 times and resetet the ecu. 3 days before departing for the TT

Bike was starting fine once recharged, measurements showed 12.7V with the battery disconnected and 12.6V with the bike running. I went to the local shop desperate for some advice, it turned out that there was an outstanding recall for something else, the shop agreed to do the recall and check the charging circuit. The check confirmed the expected failure of the apparently highly reliable reg/rec.

I've picked up the bike today with the recall work done and a new model RR fitted.

Damage to the wallet...
Nothing, zero, nic, nada, zilch. Triumph covered everything. Battery sits chuffed at 14.4V.

I've never heard of that recall! Have you had the fuel pump cut off one done?

The recall was for fuel pump something, so might have been that.
The rr is being replaced by Triumph as a good will gesture. Seen this mentioned on the 675 site, but didn't expect to be offered this on a 2006 bike.

Nice! A few early Daytonas had their ECU fried by juice created by the fuel pump spinning after the kill switch was used.
