Sv650s bar conversion questions
Aternoon all,
Starting to get the bits together for a bar conversion on my 2003 faired sv650. So far I have the naked top yoke and risers, naked clutch cale will be ordered soon and I have braided brake lines fitted which have plenty of slack so hopefully I can remain using them. So as I understand it, I need longer throttle cables and some bars, so a few questions: What bars have people fitted and what were they like? Do I really need to either get custom throttle cables or replace the sv throttle tube with that of a naked one? And if so why don't naked lines not fit the s throttle tube? Cheers! Dean |
Re: Sv650s bar conversion questions
do you need custon cables, no n ones fit right on just finding thems a pita
no throotle tube replacement nessesary but some people put the r6 one on for better throttle responce i put drz bars on mine bacuse they are nice and high and a question from me are you going full naked or just putting bars on, cos this will effect some things eg bar clearance with fairing etc |
Re: Sv650s bar conversion questions
I used custom throttle cables because I also used four inch high risers that had one and half inches of lay back. Using this set up meant that I had no problems with keeping the fairing on my S model, however my mirrors now give me a glorious view of my fists!
I used Renthal bars and they are super comfy, in total my bars are about five inches higher and two inches further back than the clip ons. This has turned my bike into a really nice and usable little beast. |
Re: Sv650s bar conversion questions
Dave,
Are you sure you don't need to change the cables? Only lookin at the way the throttle cables fit means that on the naked they screw into the rh switch unit, but on the faired they fix into a separate unit. Now did you get around this? |
