Curvy immobiliser problem.

I've got an SV650 (1999) which has a touch immobiliser fitted to it. I've had some problems starting the bike recently (nothing to do with the immobiliser) and have called the AA out a couple of times, who say it's nothing to do with the battery as it's tests fine.

Had a full service the other week and spark plugs were replaced, has been starting ok since then.

So this morning, I start it up, it starts and runs for a few seconds then dies out. I try again and it turns over but won't catch. I take the key out, wait a min, touch the fob on the immobiliser but it doesn't do anything - no lights flash etc like they usually do. Tried again 10 mins later and still dead.

What could cause this?

Not without more to go on, no.

What immobiliser is it?
Have you checked fuses? The one for the immobiliser itself probably won't be next to the the bike's own fusebox, dependent on who fitted the system it could be placed sensibly and accessibly or somewhere less divinable/easy, it's likely under the rear seats/tail bodywork - probably.

I had similar symptoms in my car, hadn't realised that the chip had fallen out of the key when it fell apart. Luckily found little black chip on the carpet of car. Have you got a spare key?

I'd be looking at removing the immobiliser and checking the bike and see what happens
