New Ish Car time
Right time for a new ish motor,
I am looking to spend fairly large and keep for 5 years plus. choices so far in order of most expensive to buy and run first Jag XF 58 plate 2.7 Diesel Luxury 50k miles - BMW 520 or 530 SE auto tourer 57 plates (slightly hesitant as my 318d has been back to BMW faaaar to may times for stupid petty faults) - 50k miles Audi A6 Avant 2.0 S line Auto 57 plates - 40k miles (reluctant as looks really dull) Mondeo 58 -plate titanium X pack Powershift -30k miles I love the look of the jag but fear reliability and big bucks for repairs, the BMW is dull inside and my 318d isnt that well built and the cost of runflats take the wee, the audi is the most practical but jeeeesh looks dull the mondeo is the cheapest ticks all the boxes but wouldnt make me smile by looking at it... Any more suggestions or input welcome, Must be auto, must be big and comfy...must be diesel and no more than £16k and must do at least 30mpg mucho thanks |
Re: New Ish Car time
How about spending low and keeping for 5 plus years, then spend the savings on a suitcase full of snow and a couple of ladies of questionable morals for a night at the local Travel lodge

Re: New Ish Car time
what type of mileage do you do? how much?
Depending what motor is in the Mondeo they become very expensive at 100k and become hand grenades potentially |

Re: New Ish Car time
Mate, look at the Volvo V40 1.9D sport lux which is what I have got, super comfy, stupidy economical (45 around town, up to 60mpg on the motorway) and LOADS of extras included, its the same 1.9D found in the megane and laguna, however Volvo have fixed the engines so they are bulletproof, some have reached over the 300k make without issue.
Mine cost me £3k a year and a bit ago and I paid top money for them, any Volvo later than 2004 is 'Ford infected' so they are unreliable and uneconomical unlike the pre 2004 Volvos :) Buy a Volvo V40 1.9D sports lux and then spend the other £13k on a track day car to tow behind it :D http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l4...6/CIMG0400.jpg |
Re: New Ish Car time
I appreciate the spend low method, but I have doen this before and every car I have had has been crap, I do around 16k a year and its being funded by my car allowance, so its not really money out of my pocket as I see it...

Re: New Ish Car time
Why not lease, change the car every 3 years. No Mot's or Tax to worry about or deprecation.
Just pick a brand new car you want insure it and then give it back after three years and get another brand spanker. www.osv.ltd.uk |
