Any open trackdays around the West Midlands?

Hi everyone, I'm looking to take my bike (SV) on a track somewhere local just for some fun. nothing competitive.

I dont know anything about the track scene, so do i need some sort of licence or formal introduction/training?

Do i need any special equipment or can i honestly just turn up with a full tank, helmet, jacket, boots and gloves?

And finally, where are the local tracks? (I'm located in Worcester or West Wales) and how much is it going to cost me?

Thanks for any help guys, would be really appreciated.

Regards, Ben.

Don't need a special license, just a road license, some organisers are fussy about restricted ones though.

You need full leathers a one piece suit or 2 piece suit which zips together all the way around.

Closest tracks are, Silverstone, Donnington, Rockingham or Mallory Park. Prices are between £45 and £160 depending on the track and time of year. Mallory and Rockingham are cheaper and easier to learn so I'd recommend those two first.

Have a look on the 2 sites below for more info and to book a day.

L3nny has pretty much summed it up. It's a good idea to tape up your headlights, cover your speedo, and remove your indicators but by no means essential. Do remove your mirrors though or fold them in or tape them.

I prefer NoLimits trackdays and you'll find all you need to know on their website regarding tips to make the day flow nicely and the timings etc. It's a good idea to ask an instructor to take you around for a session, they'll show you the lines and give you some feedback. (NoLimits don't charge for this, don't know about the others).

Do not try to blast around like a hero. Remember there will always be faster and slower people than you on the track so do not feel pressured just enjoy it.

Do it!!!!

Nolimits seem to be cheaper than most, most of the time, plus they nearly half their prices in the 2 week build up to the trackday if there's still spaces.

This was EXACTLY what I was looking for! Beng, I live in Worcester too! Would you fancy going for a trackday together? Here's a list of all the UK track days:
