iPad 3 wifi tethering to Android phone question
Mrs BP is hinting in very unsubtle terms that she would like an iPad 3 for Christmas. We both have Galaxy s2 Android phones that can be set up as wifi hotspots.
The question is, can the iPad use the Galaxy as a wifi hotspot. I'm not spending another £100 for the 3G iPad over the wifi only version, so don't even mention it. I would rather she had the Google Nexus 7 tablet which is a LOT cheaper and links to Android phones with ease, but no, iPad it must be! I've googled a fair bit, but it's unclear if it can be done or not. Most answers I found make no sense to me, so clear, simple language please :stupid: Cheers all! Pete ;) |
Re: iPad 3 wifi tethering to Android phone question
Yes it can. I have let a couple of iDiots use my phone as a gateway, both were Macbooks, but principal is the same.
Just make sure you have unlimited data plans. Has she looked at the alternatives on Android. There would be learning curve that way. The obvious alternative would be the Asus Transformer Infinity. |

Yup, done it with the Xperia play and the iPad 3 a few times.
There's a little bit more latency but nothing to be bothered about. |
