Sv650 horn fails when hot.
650 horn fails when it gets hot, Any ideas on how to stop it failing, e.g a better place to mount it?

Re: Sv650 horn fails when hot..
I got fed up with a feeble beep which then stopped when the rad got warm so I fitted a pair of fiams and used the original hooter feed to drive the relay for the new horns. The relay fits nicely between the front of the airbox and the frame and the original hooter feed will pull back.
The twin Fiams from Halfords come with mounting hardware and the relay for 15 to 20 quid. |

You could also try backing off the adjusting screw on the back a little.

Give the internals a good spray with WD40.

Re: Sv650 horn fails when hot..
If the mounting is too close to the radiator it can get overly hot and stop working. Sometimes simply bending the bracket a little is enough to correct the fault, but replacing or relocating the horn would also work.

One of the first mods I did was replacing the useless stock horn with a Stebel Nautilus.
Cheap (<£20) and easy mod that makes oodles of difference. |

Re: Sv650 horn fails when hot.
I moved my horn to the fork leg and added a little extra wire to allow for the reach. It always works and is not hidden out of the way, which also helps make the horn a little louder. :D
