Juddery Front Brake

Morning All,

Apologies if this has been covered before, I did do a quick forum search...

My 2011 Pointy has developed a juddery feeling when slowly squeezing the front brake lever. If squeezed hard then it feels fine. The brakes appear to be working fine and have loads of life left in the pads and the discs dont appear to be warped, actually the juddering is felt even when squeezed at a standstill so its not disc or pad releated.

Any ideas ? I have checked the lever itself and it seems ok, not sure if the pivot point may need greasing ? but maybe the slave (or is it master) cylinder is sticking ? not sure, as you can tell I'm no mech.

Cheers
Gav.

could be glazed pads, buildup on the disc or a loose bolt.

Hi Bibio, thanks for the reply. The juddering happens at a standstill aswell, but only if squeezed slowly, so instead of smooth and progressive it feels juddery as if sticking to something.... strange one.

are you on about the lever when you pull it in at standstill?

Re: Juddery Front Brake

that's not good. i would start with lubing up the pivot point first with white spray grease or chain lube and see how it goes. if that dosen't fix it then i would look at the MC by taking off the lever and pushing the piston with something blunt and check for roughness.

Lube the pivot for the lever.

I had exactly this and it was cured by taking of the brake lever and putting a small blob of grease on the head of the piston where the brake lever touches the master cylinder. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/30/y5a3any5.jpg

Then put it back together!

Cheers guys, got this sorted, the pivot bolt was dry as a.... so blob of grease through there and lovely and smooth now.

Thanks for all your help !
