Recommend me a battery
As per title really. Some good prices on ebay, but gel or regular?

Re: Recommend me a battery
Get the correct one for your bike.More important, then maintain it properly and it will be fine.Invest in a trickle charger, charge it fully before fitting it,then keep it charged about once a week and it will last longer than the bike.

Yeah, I'm going to invest in an optimate once I get power in my bike shed. Thanks.

Re: Recommend me a battery
I spoke to a guy in a battery shop last weekend about a new battery, and he basically said that the only benefit to having a gel battery was that they're much less likely to leak if the bike was on it's side. Even then a maintenance free battery should never really leak even if it's kept on it's side.
I'd just get a standard cheapo one and keep it on a trickle charger, even the best ones don't last forever so you're not really going to get much benefit out of it. Budget for about 40-50 for a standard 10amp/h. |
Re: Recommend me a battery
I would normally recommend the Yuasa YTZ range, my curvey has a YTZ10S which I got from a Honda dealer who were pretty competitive on price. I think you can squeeze a bigger version in there, the YTZ14S is probably the optimum if it'll fit, certainly if you do away with the tray. If you use the bike in all weathers all year round and can't regularly put it on trickle charge the bigger capacity is worthwhile. The big selling point of the YTZ range is cold cranking amps. The 10S is 180A and the 14S is 230A, adequate or plenty.
However the Motobatt batteries have been getting good reviews and a write up of a multi battery test by someone in the USA put them up at the top of the mix. I've heard plenty of real world recommendations and no negatives, so I'd suggest worth a try and cheaper than the Yuasa variants. |
Re: Recommend me a battery
Batteries are part of the part of the month on the Suzuki website. Just got a new one for an 05 pointy s for £40.

Motobatt. Only thing that my alarm and winter weather has been unable to kill. Good value too.
There is a review somewhere that is essentially a torture test, the dude failed to kill a motobatt even with trying rather hard. |
Re: Recommend me a battery
These look ok, especially for the price:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Numax-Dyna...item3a7e6ccb7e Anyone have any experience with them? |
Re: Recommend me a battery
That would be £30ish delivered or you can get the oem battery for £43 delivered from Suzuki. For £13 it's a no brainier surely??
