Front suspension knock?
Hey guys,
I have a 2005 Sv650S And when i go over one of the larger bumps on the road my front end knocks. It is best described as a Mechanical Thud. Quite blunt and quick as i first hit the bump. It seems to be coming from the head stock but i might be wrong. When i first time i heard it, i thought "Headstock Bearings must be loose". But turns out they are tight still so it might not be that. Anyone have any ideas? Regards Lume :) |
Re: Front Knocking
Mine has 300 miles on it and it makes a bit of a racket going over speed bumps. Don't know enough to determine if yours is any worse than normal though :)

Re: Front Knocking
If you've done no modifications to your front suspension then I'd be inclined to say that it was your forks bottoming out. To confirm get a cable tie and wrap it round the fork leg and slide it down so it starts of just above the seal. When you hear it again check where the cable tie is. If it's very near the bottom yoke or touching it then theres your answer.
How much do you weigh? |

Re: Front suspension knock?
Same here, hit a big enough hole and it makes a thud noise, thought it was the keys hitting the yoke but have checked the headstock and nothing is loose. K7 pointy.

Re: Front suspension knock?
I to get this every now and then I thought best to just ignore it as if I don't get the lack of mpg sorted out I shall probably get rid......

Re: Front suspension knock?
If it's a sort of clonk noise, they come as standard with that fitted.
It can be removed by leaving the bike and a chunk of cash with yorkie chris. |
