Hi UK Riders.
I'm a Brit living in the Philippines and ride a 2010 Gladius seemingly a frowned upon machine on this site but I thought I would show you mine with a few upgrades and my latest of a new seat design. While at a workshop in the middle of March I met a Yamaha Fino rider who had a very nice seat in two colours and buttoned. I enquired if stock and was told it was made by a guy in Liloan, just outside Cebu City. I got approximate location and a few days later off I went with a copy of the seat I found on the internet and wanted for my own Gladius, whose seat is hellish for any long journey and a nightmare when a passenger is onboard. So I found Joseph (Boboy) whose shop is very small and somewhat difficult to spot off the main highway and beach. After showing him my picture and bike. We discussed the process and price. This included new motorcycle foams, reshaping, leather (3 colours), sewing and labour. I left him a deposit for buying the leather and finally returned yesterday for it to be worked on. The whole process took around 3.5 hours and he did everything by hand and foot pedal sewing machine. He used a hacksaw blade, wood saw, smelly glue, nylon string, wire and even a banana Q bamboo stick. See the process he took in the photos below. I'm sure you all will be impressed with the final result. If you want to know the full price for this labour intensive job just scroll to the end. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/04/07/umyvehus.jpg A few of the upgrades on my Gladius. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/04/07/asubyju2.jpg Stripping the seat. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/04/07/7evy7uje.jpg Adding and shaping new foam. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/04/07/a9u9yzab.jpg Cutting leather and sewing together. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/04/07/7apyjyre.jpg Putting it together. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/04/07/gy7anada.jpg The Old and the New. On a final note the total cost from the seat including leather, foams and labour by hand was the huge amount of less than £16 and £3 of that was the tip! Tks...
