Fan switch failure?
Hi,
basically wondering if any of you reading this have had the same problems as me or know of the fault. When i start the bike from cold the fan comes on, can take a good 10minutes before it goes off depending on the temperature, i.e when its freezing outside it stays on longer, when the engines warm this doesnt happen. i've been told its most likely a fan switch failure, which is £66 to replace from suzuki. any help would be much appreciated! |
Re: Fan switch failure?
The fan switch is located in the radiator.
Unplug the connector for it and bridge the wires that plug into it from the main loom. If the fan comes on and off with no issues when you bridge that connector then the fan switch is a likely candidate. Check the coolant level in your radiator too as if it's not fully submerged you can get some slightly odd behaviour. Jambo |
Re: Fan switch failure?
I've a spare fan switch, from an old leaky rad, I'll let you have it cheaper than £66 if you want it.

Re: Fan switch failure?
I replaced my fan switch with a manual switch, that way I can have the fan on when I want! More importantly, I could not afford a replacement one, so bodged it. It works mate... the fat one balances the two skinny ones! ;-)

Re: Fan switch failure?
I'll let my spare switch go for the price of a northern-priced indian takeaway for me and the mrs, about £13 quid, posted. Save the slight hassle of wiring in a switch :D

Re: Fan switch failure?
just a quick update, i have checked the coolant level and did need a bit more adding in, turned ignition on afterwards and the fan didnt come on, however i will check it again later as i have a feeling that it probably will come on again, will keep you posted!
