Halford's paint match SV?

My Blue SV650 K9 2009 has gravel rash on the tank. Popped into halfords the other day and they said if I gave them a paint code, they could mix a paint kit up that I could then use to fix the tank gravel rash/chips. They said £10 for the kit, is this something I should attempt by myself?

I have the BLUE YSF code on my service manual. Will it really work?
Input please? :)

Depends on how severe it is.

Some pics would help

Have a look on Youtube for vids, I've just looked at some on the same subject

I can get in some macro shots if you like?
Did you find anything that you could use?

H'mm I can't see that the halfords stuff is going to repair that well, as its a big scuff by the tank pad. Looks quite deep too. It will mask it up a bit

I had a paint shop repair a big chip by my tank filler, was invisible after he'd finished

Re: Halford's Paint Repair Scheme

£100 I think

But that included a front mudguard & fairing panel and undertray too.

Biggest cost was the little tin of Sonic silver paint which was £50 I think

I@m not worried about the scuff, I was more after the little dots on the tank...

Have a look at this. Will the Halfords thing botch it up or cover it successfully?

Yes, the Halfrauds stuff should do the trick, but prep them chips first before applying any paint

This is one Youtube video I watched today, seems not a bad guide, there maybe others
