Difficulty engaging neutral once warm
Hi All,
I did an oil and filter change on my K6 on saturday morning, took her out for a ride and found just before heading home that I couldn't engage neutral instead I was simply shifting up and down between 1st and 2nd. The shift from 1st to 2nd also felt very hard (2nd to 1st not so much). Turning the engine off and shifting into neutral wasn't a problem. I did a quick search on here saturday afternoon and found the lovely instructional thread by anna on how to adjust the clutch. Sunday morning I adjusted the clutch as per instructions 1/8 of a turn on the screw etc. Put it all back together, started her up and sat there shifting up and down in and out of neutral with ease. Took the bike out for about 15mins but then found that it wouldn't go into neutral again once home. On the way into work this morning I have had the same problem, first 10 mins or so of the ride it would go into neutral no problem but once it was fully warmed up to normal running temperature it would no longer do it. I'd really like to sort this before the AR... Any help and/or advice? |

You overfilled the oil?

Re: Difficulty engaging neutral once warm
The clutch lifter worm lasts about 20k miles so if you're getting there then it's worth looking at, the little balls eat into the worm and it feels squidgy and doesn't work so well.

Re: Difficulty engaging neutral once warm
I'm just slightly confused by how it seems OK when cold, but not when warm. Normally it's the other way round and the cause is clutch drag.
Does it make any difference if you are moving or not? |

Also not that I really need to know this but why does too much oil cause this? Quote:

Re: Difficulty engaging neutral once warm
a big syringe and plastic tubing worked for me, but that's because i had that in the garage.
alternatively, dump the oil into a clean pan and pour back up to correct level. |
