Refitting spark plug cap?

Today I am replacing my spark plugs, old ones out and new ones in. All torqued up correctly and so far so good. At the moment I am trying to refit the caps/leads, which are proving to be right sod to push back in. There was some resistance when I pulled them out but nothing crazy, they just don't seem to want to go all the way and seat properly.

Is this the case normally or do I need to man up a bit more?
Cheers.

Spark plug cap.

If you look at the head where the cap fits on the plug, are they the same? Some plugs have a small cap you need to unscrew first.
