Equine vet

Hi all,

Does anybody know an equine vet, ideally in the north west UK? My daughter (11 approaching 12 but very mature for age) has ambitions in this area, she is massively enthusiastic and fairly knowledgeable already and would love to arrange some work experience over the summer holidays.

Please PM if so.

Ta.

Just saw age...might be a bit of a stumbling block that as you might find they say she has to be 14. Always worth a try though.

There has been series of programs on Army animals recently on the telly. Turns out we have twice as many horses as tanks which is rather a sad state of affairs. Anyway worth finding on catch up if she hasn't seen it.

Flymo...these are all North West, given by a friend on an equine forum for you. Good luck.

Where abouts north west?
Ill just list the ones I know/used

Simon Constable Vets Manchester way
Agnew Equine -Staffordshire area
Wright and Morton- cheshire area
Knox and Devlin(though more farm animal/small animal)- Early Derbyshire
Then there is Oakhill which are Preston way but cover all the way Upto places like Rochdale etc

Thanks GG..... did you see what I did there? ;-)

We live in Wallasey on the Wirral peninsula just opposite Liverpool. She is a little young but very enthusiastic. As you say worth a try.

I saw ;)

If she's that keen, put an advert up in local papers asking if anyone experienced and preferably qualified would want some voluntary help on weekends or through the holidays. They are more likely to be covered by insurance for someone her age if they are BHS qualified (British Horse Society).

She needs to remember three things.

Do as she's told

Don't get in the way

Don't do anything unless asked.

If I were closer I'd let her spend time with my girls xx
