K7 engine in K6?
 

Hi

I’m looking at swapping the engine in my 2006 K6 SV650s pointy, as the gearbox is mashed. Now I have been in touch with the breaker, who said he had a 2007 model, and he has said that apparently, they changed from 2 plugs to 4?? And that I should check mine. He said that the 2007 has 4 plugs?

Now I called the garage which has my one, they checked it and said that mine has 2 plugs.

Any idea when this change took place, and what years I should be looking at as compatible with my bike?

Twin spark was introduced with the K7 model, which is roughly 2007.
k4-k6 but K3 might fit

The Twinspark motor was 2007 onwards (2 per head). The 2006 is the old motor.
I don't know if the heads can be swapped as that would be a quickest solution using a the K7 motor

Is loom the same for k6 & k7 though? Being an electrical change I wonder if they are different?

Nope different as the ECU is a lot larger, its twin plug

right, I'm glad I checked, that has been very helpful. Now begins the massive hunt for a decently priced engine!

Also, apologies for being a noob and posting in the wrong section
