Securing my SV?
 

Hi people I'm matt, 25 from bury st edmunds, my first post here. So I passed my test a few months back and bought a new sv650 after learning on a gladius and reading some threads on here. Absolutely love it, keep it immaculate. Anyway onto my issue unfortunately I'm not blessed with a garage and have to keep it outside covered up. Everything was great until 20 minutes ago in my back garden the wind just blew it over!!!....gutted. minor bend on the rear brake lever and broken front right indicator, I can appreciate that it could have been a lot worse but still hurts! Just wondered if anybody has any ideas how to make it more secure. I've removed the cover so it doesn't act like a sail again, was considering putting it on rear paddock stand but weren't sure if that'd be any better?
I look forward to making some more positive post on here in the future and maybe getting involved in some meets! :)

A shed (wanted one but landlord said no) or anything to break the wind, hedge, fence etc. My hedge has blocked the wind well so far!

How about a couple of cheap ground anchors and a ratchet strap?

hi mate im from ipswich not to far away :) ive got mine sitting at the top of the drive with an oxford stormex cover has some handy plastic clips that clip under the bike stops it blowing up in the wind i also have a datatool ground anchor i think its an essential piece of kit if its standing outside and have a big motrax chain to go with that, bike was fine in that "storm" we had.

Cheers guys. That's what cover I have too, guess I just got unlucky. For now I've made good use out of a tree stump in my garden that I haven't yet dug up, the bike is anchored down to that so theres no way its going over again :) after seeing it in the light i was shocked to see that there's no scratches or dents whatsoever so I'll replace the indicator and rear brake lever and you'd never know. Got lucky I think!

Must have been some strong wind! How sturdy was the ground it was stood on?

Well it stands on my wooden decking which I though was sturdy enough, I'm guessing I was just really unlucky so not taking any chances now! Lesson learned!

I got mine on a grassed area and have a concrete slab and a pick axe handle wedged between it and the crash bung.

How about something like the strap they put across the seat when you go on a ferry, they can cope with choppy seas so I would think it would be good for wind too!
