Renthal Grips on a Pointy?

1 Attachment(s)
Evening Orgers,

Has anyone else fitted renthal dual compound grips to their pointy? Apart from them being a little short they seem great, the only problem is they don't fit quite right on the throttle tube. There's a sort of lip/thing/see picture below (this isnt my actual bike just a picture from google to illustrate my poor description) and the grip pushes up against it but doesn't go over it and leaves some of the throttle tube on show.

Now its black aswell so it doesn't really bother me but has anyone else found a solution to this, I.e will it go over it with some forcing? And if there is no solution is this a problem? Will it let loads of crap and dirt get into the switch gear and cables etc or will it be fine?

Cheers in advance

yeah, I fitted them on mine (not dual compound though, they're medium compound) but had the same issue. With a bit of perseverance it almost went over, but it didn't bother me and I've had no issue with it whatsoever. It's a track bike though, so not out on the road in all weathers or anything, but I reckoned it'd be right.

I had the same issue when fitting my heated grips I ended up dremeling down the notches and the big ridge on the end, recently cracked it around the grip area so now have a r6 mod tube which has no big notches or ridges as standard

Cheers guys, I'm just going to leave them as they are I think, I've still got the original grips so if anything goes wrong I can always fit them back on. And the renthal grips are on solidly now.
