Tiger 800 opinions?
 

Any one have experience of the Road going version of this?
Is it any good to do some miles on?

One of my dealers sold the XC version to a customer who took it on a trip to Thailand and back. 16000 km round trip and the only thing that went wrong was a fork oil seal. I'm sure the road version would be very similar.

Colin (Ethariel) has a new standard version, and I've demo ridden the same thing, to me it's the best version of the smaller triple lump and suits the gearing (detuned from the 675 variant), very comfy riding position like most of the adventure style bikes are, I've fitted two higher screens; which seems to be something the taller riders need, suspension could do with a little setup as standard it's a little bouncy, obviously Triumph do a whole lot of bolt on bits, various guards and luggage, but it all costs, the Arrow approved exhaust is really a waste of money as it's barely louder than standard, so I'd go for just a can change if you want a bit more sound.

I love my daytona to bits. Tried a street and that didn't feel comfortable.
And as it's a manageable hight. Less strain on old knees.
Ongars demo was so comfortable
Ok a little lacking in go compared to the daytona. But the next size up is too tall.

The standard explorer 1200 is quite low compared to the competition, and I assume you can also get a lowering kit for them too? I sat on a R1200GS with the lowering kit the other day and could flat foot that, but sitting on the stock bike was not as comfortable as the explorer stock by any means. I can only assume you can accomplish the same dropping of height with the explorer which would mean it would be a fit for you no worries...worth asking about it I reckon, that 1200 motor is decent (especially compared to the 800) plus no chain...

I'm not sure I'd want the extra weight.
I mostly only plod about so as long as it can get to cruise at 80 it's going to be fine.
The daytona is good fun for a blast but it not really going to be suitable to do the castle route in Europe, well not with my joints

Picked up my new (to me!) Tiger 800 last Friday, rode it 200 miles home, no problem whatsoever. Easy it ride, comfy, handles great, engine pulls and pulls...

Standard screen aside, which IS useless above 50mph, it's brilliant.

I just wish you could get the 800 (which my tiny legs will just about get over) with the semi-faired nose off the 1050 Tiger Sport

I've ridden the 800 xc and road version quite a bit, had them on full day test rides, awesome bikes, that engine just loves to rev.

It's also got that wonderful way of making you feel like you're going faster than what you are, very good for your license.

They really chuck in the corners well too, I would've bought one but my wife talked me in to getting the explorer instead, she wasn't keen on the pillion seat on the 800.

You wouldn't be dissapointed in one that's for sure.
