Mod 2 tips ?

Hey guys,

Unfortunately failed my Mod 2 last Friday- it pretty much all went to **** , he failed me for being too far near the road markings (swan necking) and for overtaking in oncoming traffic (Long story- not as bad as it sounds).

Ive been riding a 125 for the past year and a few months but got into my 2nd wreck in July where I was pulled out on, so no bike to practise on since then, had around 6 lessons at £100 each and its £175 now for the test, and to be honest my instructor scares me more than the test!
Hes always coming out with things that just shut down my confidence, for example he wanted me to do a lesson about filtering and overtaking the day before my test but I couldnt get the time off work- and at 100 pound a lesson I really couldnt afford it... and he really shook me up before my test saying 'You shouldve had that lesson yesterday".

Everything was OK, I could tell I had a few minors but I tried not to let them get to me and just carry on and at the end of the test I knew I had failed. No problems with the indipendant ride really, or taking directions.

At the end of the day I put myself under far too much pressure with work, family, money etc
Retest next monday-and I have to say I'm trying to take it as calmly as possible- I was a nervous wreck before and during the test.

Annoying thing was- the ride home was perfect because I just didnt care!

Observations, road positioning, speed, confidence- and I was talking to myself for anything I saw so I could rememeber road signs and directions, forward planning etc.- anything else?

So any tips before I go back? 2nd time lucky!

Thanks guys :)

Youve answered it yourself 'confidence'. Command the road.

Practise, if you've got a bike again, ride it. Once you feel comfortable on it get some time with an instructor so they can tell you how to pass the test and go for it again. If it's pressure that's your problem go out with someone for a mock test and drive like you're on test. The best thing I found was to ride like I was on test for a few weeks so that it was natural when I came to taking the test.

Take a deep breath.
Analysis of what you failed on and from that formulate a plan to address these issues.
Next time you have all of it covered.
And your pass

Talk to yourself on the test too. Remember to breathe, it does make a difference to being tense. You could also take a large dose of betablockers but that might have you dozing off in the middle of the ride!

£100 a lesson... is the training school called Turpin enterprises.

its not £175 for your test fee. its £75-88 depending on your day/night. if you are paying £175 then i think you might have been disqualified at some point.

Hi bud- I got an SV for when I pass as I didnt see the point buying another 125 after mine was written off when I was going in for my test.

Ive had 6 sessions of 3-4 hours with my instructor and the last lesson he said I did really well- Just got damn nervous on test day :/

Cheers for the advise will take it on board! :)

Nah man its a local guy called Phils school of motoring- really good instructor but can be very disheartening sometimes, but I guess if he was too soft Id have all kinds of bad habits!

And its £175- £100 for the hire of the bike and £75 for the test, it was £115 for my Mod1!

Cheers

£100 for the bike hire? That's robbery. I took a 2 hr lesson to practice and ride to the test and it also covered taking the test and riding back. Cost me £45 per hour including bike hire. Two years ago in Norwich.
