Re: honda cbr 500r ?
If you are looking at new. Try out the little KTM 390.
It's a brilliant fun thing. |
Re: honda cbr 500r ?
Not as sporty as the ninja 300 despite having a bit more power, not the most fun bike but okay for commuting.

Re: Honda CBR500R opinions?
I would think it a disappointing thing. lacking performance, suspension and braking. There are better parallel twins out there (if that is what you are looking for). I think you would become bored very quickly. Maybe OK for a commute, but not for smile/adrenalin inducing fun.

Re: Honda CBR500R opinions?
I borrowed one of the newer smaller CBRs from a friend while we were in Thailand and I rode it for a day. My back side and back were not up to the pounding from the hard suspension even on the new tarmac roads, the power delivery was a bit sluggish, so the gear box needed to be used more than on my own bike and the noise from the can was so gentle as to be a soothing rumble. Does this sound like a good bike? Not really, which is a shame because it was actually a huge pile of fun for a few minutes, but my word I needed a soft cushion to sit on after and a tissue to dry my tears once I got to my destination.
Even better was the CB500, it was very basic, was not very big and had a lovely little twin engine. To be honest this bike was completely fabulous and if money was no object for us, I would buy one just because it had real character. The gear box was typical of cheap Hondas in that it would jump out of second on hills but so what, it chugged along happily all day, the handling was light and intuitive and even when riding the bike off road through the jungle on road tyres, it still handled beautifully. |

I didn't get it out of the B road situation. And only had a short trial The Honda is in a broad way to close to my other bikes for what I'm looking for. |
